Maayke Schuitema creates all artistic expressions for the PowerSouls. She is a renowned artist who has worked with galleries both nationally and internationally for decades, with her paintings finding homes on walls across the world.
Her life-size linocut prints are direct and topical; it propagates, communicates and encourages reflection. She reveals on canvas how personal experience and world history are deeply and irrevocably intertwined.
In the autumn of 2025, Maayke chose to step away from her galleries and the international art world for several years to devote herself fully to the PowerSouls. She now commits her talent wholeheartedly to bringing Valentineโs stories to life through imagesโusing her art to help make the world a gentler, more conscious, and more beautiful place.

Valentine van Heeswijk is the author of the PowerSouls. She is a naturopath and a qualified BodyTalk practitioner. From an early age she developed a deep interest in the ancient wisdom of indigenous peoples and their profound connection to nature. This sparked a lifelong fascination with the bodyโs innate self-healing capacity and the power of natural healing.
She has four children, each born in a different season and growing up by the sea. Her role as a mother, and the insights she receives from these four unique inhabitants of our world, form the greatest source of inspiration for writing this adventure.
